The true home of barbecue is where the heart is.
These days good barbecues can be found all over the world, but there are traditional bbq hot-spots where this method of slow-cooking meat over low-temperatures is deeply ingrained in the culture.
Nobody truly knows where in the world barbecue originated, however places like Memphis, North Carolina, Kansas City and Texas are not only known for the cooking art-form, but they have their own techniques, recipes and styles.
Favorite cuts of meat for a bbq include pork and beef ribs, brisket, pork butt, chicken and more. Sauces for barbecue, and rubs (wet and dry seasoning mixes applied to the meat prior to cooking) are as diverse in ingredients and flavor as the people doing the cooking and eating.
No matter where you are from, or what your favorite style of barbecue is (perhaps Memphis-style pork ribs or Texas slow-cooked beef brisket), it's clear that no matter who claims to be king of the bbq pit, it's those eating the food that are most handsomely rewarded.
