USDA raised its expected export level of pork for 2008 to a new record level of over 1.1 million metric tones; this revision in estimates for 2008 is expected to bring an additional 100 million dollars into the US economy.
Reasons for the revision are said to be the lowering in price of pigs and hogs coupled with the weak price of the dollar, helping foreign countries to get more for their money. And who could blame them? USDA pork is one of the top selling items here at Prime Chops and one of our best exports!
For pure indulgence, opt for the Boneless Pork Sirloin Strip Steak, one of the leanest and tender pork cuts. Or, if your preference is for lamb then why not try the Frenched Rack Bone-In Pork Chops with their sweet flavor, this pork cut is delicious when grilled, broiled or baked.
While raising pork export estimates, USDA kept beef and veal export estimates static at 544,000 metric tones and 442,000 metric tones respectively, helping to generate a combined amount of 4.1 billion dollars into the economy.
